- This short course aims to enhance students’ knowledge, understanding and confidence in approaching a range of Paediatric Urgent and Emergency Care presentations. The module will look in detail at effective assessment and clinical management of minor and major, illness or injury.
- The module will use face-to-face teaching, workshops and discussion forums to explore the theory underpinning paediatric practice. Practical simulation activity will allow the student to gain additional exposure to this complex group of patients.
- The module can be completed at Level 6 (PP673) or Level 7 (PP773). The course is validated for 30 academic credits at either level, receiving a joint award from The Academy of Professional Development and Bucks New University.

Entry Requirements
To complete the module at Level 6: Registered healthcare professional, with a professional interest in Paediatric urgent and emergency care (e.g. Paramedic or other AHP). 120 credits at level 5 (equivalent to DipHE or FdSc), or extensive post-registration experience in an urgent and emergency care setting*. To complete the module at Level 7: Registered healthcare professional, with a professional interest in Paediatric urgent and emergency care (e.g. Paramedic or other AHP). 120 credits at level 6 (equivalent to DipHE or FdSc), or extensive post-registration experience in an urgent and emergency care setting*. *Students who do not hold the pre-requisite number of credits may still enrol based on extensive post-registration experience, however, may be required to demonstrate their capability to study at Level 6/7. |

Both levels will require submission of a written assignment and successful completion of an Observed Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE). |

Location
The course will be delivered at the academy site in Loudwater, High Wycombe. Students will have access to all facilities on the BNU campus in High Wycombe (Library, Student Support) as well as full e-learning access through Blackboard. |
